Richard was born on February 6, 1948 in Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Rudolph and Freda (Hasner) Tuve. He grew up near Porter, MN where he attended country school and Canby High School.
Richard enlisted in the US Navy in 1965 and serving during the Viet Nam War. He was discharged in 1969 in San Diego, California. He lived in San Diego for a few years and then returned to be near family in Clara City. Richard was a brick layer, mason and concrete finisher. He moved around often for work, living in Willmar, MN, Watertown, SD and also to New Jersey for a couple of years. Richard returned to Watertown in 1977 for a short time and then settled in Sioux Falls. He continued working in the construction field until he retired in 2004.
Richard enjoyed fishing and was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Richard passed away on Jan. 15, 2025 at the VA Regional Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Richard is survived by four children, Megan, Richard, Jr., Tonya and Faron Demarrias; seven grandchildren, Preston, Blake, Taleah, Akot, Deng, Elvis and Diamond; three siblings, Joyce (Kenneth) Klaassen, Paul (Brenda) Tuve and Janice (Terry) Sebring; a sister-in-law, Kendra Tuve; an uncle, Ralph Hasner; and two aunts, Deloris DiSisto and Shirley Markegard. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father, Harvey Kranz, and two brothers, Maynard and Dwight.
