Ruth was born on August 14th, 1949, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Marvin Lewis Steineke and Stella Dot (Houg) White. She grew up in Sioux Falls and the surrounding areas during her childhood.
Ruth met Danny Dwayne Edwards when they were teenagers, and they married on September 26th, 1970. The couple moved to a small acreage outside of Rowena, SD, and it was there they raised their family. From this union, came three children; Jessi, Levi, and Luke.
Ruth worked at UPS for a number of years, but eventually began working for Goodwill. She worked there as an assistant manager up until she retired in 2014.
After retirement, Ruth was able to enjoy lots of extra time with her grandchildren, whom visited very often. Her grandchildren were her whole world. She was blessed with 5 granddaughters, 5 grandsons, a new grandbaby due in May 2026, and 4 great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Levi (Allison) Edwards, Sioux Falls; and Luke Edwards, Rowena, SD; her granddaughters, Lacie, Kailee, Mylie, Oakleigh, and Hadley; her grandsons, Tim, Dylan, Riley, Mason, Hazon, and baby Edwards due May 2026; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Dixie Hinrich, Sioux Falls, SD; Karen Henry, Renner, SD; Bonnie (Chris) Almont, Renner, SD; 2 brothers, Fred (Mabel) Steineke, Sioux Falls, SD; Randy (Elaine) Steineke, Trent, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Edwards; daughter, Jessi Edwards; granddaughter, Evie Edwards; parents, Marvin Steineke and Stella White.
Ruth will be laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Sioux Falls, SD, on Friday, February 20th, 2026, at 2pm. Those that are able, are welcome to join her family for a small graveside service at the cemetery at 2pm.
