Eileen Marion Wygmans

Eileen Marion (Timmes) Wygmans, 81 of Wallingford, CT passed away on February 18, 2026. Eileen was born on June 11, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY to Edward and Ruth (Schmidt) Timmes. Eileen grew up in Uniondale, NY surrounded by her extended family, including her grandparents, aunt and uncle and cousins. She graduated from Uniondale High School and then went to work in New York City for McCann Erickson as a secretary. She met the love of her life, John E. Wygmans, while working in New York City and they married on January 23, 1965. They started their family in Levittown, NY but soon relocated to Connecticut where they ultimately settled in Guilford. When her children started school, Eileen decided to pursue a college degree at Southern Connecticut State University where she eventually earned her bachelor's degree in May of 1984, just a few weeks shy of her 40th birthday. From there she had a very successful career in healthcare administration and human resources – advancing quickly at the Apt Foundation, VNA of South Central Connecticut and finally, Middlesex Hospital. She was very proud of her board service at the Connecticut Hospital Association.

Eileen deeply loved her family, her gardens, cards with friends and traveling with John. She followed politics, loved music of all kinds, and most of all, loved to dance with John.

Beside her husband John, she leaves her son John J. Wygmans of Cromwell, CT, her daughter and son-in-law Nancy and David Altschuler of Hartford, CT, and two beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Altschuler of West Hartford, CT and Lindsay Altschuler of Manchester, CT. She also leaves behind her dear sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Joseph Eiden of Pittsburgh, PA and a number of cherished nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate her life at a funeral service on March 5, 2026 at 11:00 am at Ashlar Village, 74 Cheshire Road, Wallingford, CT.
