Vito Insinga Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michael Hegarty & John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals & Cremation Service on Feb. 15, 2026.
Vito E. Insinga Jr., 73, of Marlboro, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, with his wife and daughter by his side after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on September 1, 1952, in Uniondale, New York, Vito was the beloved son of the late Vito and Josephine Insinga. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend whose warmth and humor left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Vitos life was defined by his love for music, family, and laughter. In his younger years, he found great joy as a DJ in New York City, sharing his deep passion for music and lighting up every room he entered. Known for his easygoing charm and infectious energy, he had a genuine gift for bringing people together.

After graduating from Uniondale High School, Vito moved to Manhattan, where he took classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology. During this time, he met and married Kathleen, with whom he had his daughter, Alexandra. They spent time between the Hamptons and New York City before later separating, although always remaining close friends. In 1991, Vito met Gwen Shapiro, and they went on to build a beautiful life together, eventually settling in Marlboro, New Jersey, with their two dogs, Lacie and Duke.

Vito loved his family above all else and took great pride in being a father. He treasured his friendships and remained closely connected to the music community throughout his life, later founding USA Dance Radio. Earlier in life, he enjoyed riding his Harley and participating in charity rides, including Toys for Tots. He loved the beach, had a deep love for animals, and was happiest when surrounded by the people and pets he loved.

Vito is survived by his wife, Gwen; his daughter, Alexandra; his sister, Antoinette; his nieces, Jennifer, Emily, and Lauren; his grandnephew, Jake; and his dogs, Lacie and Duke. He was predeceased by his parents, Vito and Josephine Insinga.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who loved him. Services and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
