MARTINSBURG-Danyce “Dee” Emry, age 59, of Martinsburg, died Monday, June 17, 2024, at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney.
Dee was born June 13, 1965, in Sigourney, the daughter of Robert and Betty (Anthony) Emry. She received her G.E.D. and briefly attended Indian Hills Community College. On May 14, 1988, Dee married Von Thomas Lutz and they were later divorced. Dee was the Managing Editor and Advertising Manager for the Hedrick Journal for eight years. She was a member of the Hedrick American Legion Auxiliary and Batavia Baptist Church. Dee enjoyed collecting recipes and cookbooks, family get-togethers and dogs.
Survivors include two sisters: Sheila Clubb of Sigourney and Barbara Echelberry of Hedrick; two brothers: Greg Northcutt of Montezuma and Randy Northcutt of Searsboro; special friend: L.P. Smith of Batavia and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 24, 2024, at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney, with Pastor Tom Shipley officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for the Batavia Baptist Church. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Dee and her family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
