Today, we gather to celebrate the life of Daphne Laviolet Williams, born on May 6, 1941, to Sophia and Othniel Williams in Trelawny, Jamaica. Daphne was a woman of immense grace and courage, with a spirit of determination that allowed her to overcome any challenge. Her strong- willed nature was one of her defining traits, as she possessed the inner strength to accomplish whatever she set her mind to. Daphne's journey began at Bryce Primary School in Manchester, Jamaica, where she laid the foundation for a life of learning and growth. After graduation, she moved to Kingston and later to Spanish Town, where she would meet and marry Tarrant Williams
in October 1979.
In 1983, Daphne made a significant move to Florida, where she began a dedicated career as a Nurse Technician at Broward General Hospital. For nearly three decades, she served with compassion and commitment, providing care to countless patients. Her work was more than a job-it was a calling. Daphne's skill, empathy, and tireless efforts earned her the respect and admiration of both her colleagues and those she cared for. She retired in 2010, leaving behind a legacy of service and a lasting impact on the hospital and the many lives she touched during her years of dedicated work. Daphne was an extraordinary Evangelist, whose unwavering faith and dedication to God shone brightly in every aspect of her life. She was deeply involved in her church, never hesitating to express her devotion and love for the Lord. Whether it was during a service or a special event, Daphne could always be found at the forefront, mic in hand, leading the congregation in powerful songs of worship and praise. Her voice and spirit resonated with a profound sense of purpose, drawing others closer to the divine with every note. She was a beacon of faith, inspiring all who
witnessed her passion for God's work.
Daphne's presence had an undeniable magnetism, captivating everyone she encountered. Her radiant smile and boundless generosity left an undeniable mark on all who crossed her path. Her love and kindness were woven into every action, whether it was sharing meals with friends or offering prayers for those in need. She was a pillar of support, always giving of herself selflessly. Her legacy was one of love, kindness, and enduring wisdom.
Daphne was preceded in death by her husband, Tarrant Williams, as well as her mother, Sophia, and father, Othniel. She was also preceded by two sisters, three brothers, two grandsons, and one great-grandson. However, Daphne's legacy lives on through her large and loving family. She leaves behind ten children: Albert, Delroy, Sonia, Andrea, Michelle, Ricardo, Simone, Carlus, Daveen, and Monique. Her family also includes her daughter-in-law, Nadine, and her son-in-laws, Garfield, Everton, Kenneth, and Rowewain. Daphne's love and influence extend to thirty-nine grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, five sisters, two brothers, and a multitude of nieces and
nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
There was an abundance of love in her life, and even though she is no longer here with us, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will live on in each of us. Daphne was not just an incredible mother, but also a devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Her love, wisdom, and unwavering strength touched the hearts of everyone who knew her.
As we carry forward the lessons she taught us, we honor her memory, knowing that her spirit will forever guide and uplift us. Her enduring love and strength will continue to shape the generations she left behind, inspiring us to live with the same grace, compassion, and resilience that she embodied. Daphne's legacy is one of unwavering faith, kindness, and devotion, and it will live on in all of us as we strive to make her proud in every step we take.
