Harrietta - Darcy Mae Brown, longtime resident of Slagle Township, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 30, 2024. She was only 56 years old.
Darcy was born on September 7, 1968, in Traverse City, Michigan to Lesley and Jo Ann (Kangas) Klingbeil. She spent her formative years going on adventures with her siblings and spending time with her large extended family. She grew up in Harrietta and attended school at Mesick Consolidated Schools and was a member of the 1986 graduating class. Darcy entered into marriage with Ralph Brown on May 16, 1987, at Boon Baptist Church. Darcy made her living as a school photographer and she worked at Lifetouch and then GPI for over 25 years combined.
She enjoyed nature, photography, sketching, creating, and spending time with her family. She could often be found taking Charlie (their beloved Beagle) for walks in the woods, or out taking photos of new or her favorite places or scenery. Darcy loved spending time with her family and close friends. She was passionate about her faith, her family, and her artistic endeavors. She was a fun and energetic mom and grandma, who was never too old for tent forts and outside games and adventures in the woods. She was a member of Fist Baptist Church of Cadillac and will be remembered for her time with the Women's Ministry Team and volunteering in the nursery.
Darcy is survived by her husband, Ralph Brown of Harrietta; her two children, Desiree (Brandon) Wilkey of Battle Creek and Benjamin (Savannah) Brown of Casper, WY; grandchildren, Carson Wilkey, Joe Wilkey, and two grand babies on the way (Brown and Wilkey); her parents; Les and Jo Ann Klingbeil of Harrietta; her sister, Cheri (Ron) Bates of Harrietta; and her brother, Terry (Lori) Klingbeil of Harrietta. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents Ray and Katherine Klingbeil and Carl and Rosalia Kangas.
Memorial services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cadillac on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11am, with visitation one hour prior.
