Darell Fredrick Groves

Darell Fredrick Groves, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away tragically in an automobile accident on November 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in McPherson, Kansas, Darell's life was marked by a spirit of service, dedication to his family, and a deep love for his community.

Darell is preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. and Beulah M. (Haworth) Groves. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Gerrianne Groves, with whom he shared 29 years and 9 months of marriage. Their love was a testament to the power of companionship and mutual support, as they built a life filled with laughter and joy. Darell is also survived by his three sons, Philip Canon, Dale Groves, and Wesley Groves, who were a source of pride and joy in his life. He was a loving grandfather to three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters, whose smiles ignited a warmth in his heart. Additionally, he is remembered fondly by his brothers, Delbert and Daniel, and sister, Delora, alongside numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

Darell proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years, a commitment that reflected his dedication to his country and community. Following his military service, he worked as a police officer on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, showcasing his commitment to public safety and law enforcement. His career also included work in the printing industry, where he specialized in the repair of printing equipment, contributing his skills and expertise to the trade.

A member of the Oak Ridge Wesleyan Church in Largo, Florida, Darell was not only a devoted congregant but also served as the church organist, sharing his musical talents with the community. His love for music was matched by his passion for amateur radio, where he was known by his call sign, KV4HI, connecting with fellow enthusiasts and fostering friendships that transcended distance.

Darell was a man of many interests and hobbies, though his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He embodied kindness, integrity, and a genuine spirit, making a positive impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
