Always known as "Mrs. Capps," she taught for forty years (grades K-8) as her family moved around the country on large construction projects. She taught most of her years in southern Indiana and western Kentucky. She also taught in North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, and Texas, working extensively with dyslexic children. After she retired and moved back to
Crofton, KY, she tutored children from the community.
With a thirst for travel, she went on six cruises sailing across the Mediterranean to Turkey, around the Baltic Sea to Russia, visiting all Scandinavian countries except Norway, and across the North Sea to Iceland and Greenland. A few years before her husband passed, they drove in a RV 7,000 miles around the perimeter of our beautiful country, visiting nine National Parks and meeting many interesting people.
Returning to Crofton in 1988, she devoted herself as a caregiver for her family and devoted much of her time to serving in her church and was faithful to serve until the very end. With great endurance, she never let anything hold her back. She was determined, adventurous, smart, kind and humble. She cooked many meals enjoyed by her family around her dining room table and in her church to those in need. She was always there to lend a helping hand and step up to humbly serve a need that would arise. The Lord was the center point of her life and we feel assured her faith has now become sight. Although, she is greatly missed, we delight in trusting she was welcomed into eternity with a resounding "Welcome home, good and faithful servant."
