ROCK HILL, South Carolina - Darlene Williams Dunlap, 71, of York, South Carolina, passed away in Rock Hill on October 27, 2025, following a brief illness.

Born December 18, 1953, in Kearny, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Lt. Roger Charles Williams and Mildred Hicks Williams.

Mrs. Dunlap earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master of Science in Oncology Nursing from Duke University. She later returned to Duke to earn her Post-Master's Nurse Practitioner Certificate. Her nursing career spanned decades in hematology oncology, palliative, and hospice care in Virginia and across the Carolinas. Known for her compassion and professionalism, she touched countless lives throughout her years of service.

In retirement, she enjoyed playing trivia and music bingo, reading, crafting, cheering for her favorite teams - Clemson and Duke - and caring for animals, which she dearly loved.

Survivors include her son, Thomas Dunlap IV of York, South Carolina, along with extended family and many dear friends.

A celebration of Mrs. Dunlap's life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Bethesda Presbyterian Church in York, South Carolina, with visitation to follow in the Fellowship Hall at the Church. Interment will be held later at Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Henderson, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the York County Library, the York County Humane Society, or to a charity of one's choice. Greene's Funeral Home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, is assisting the family.
