Darlene A. Holmberg , age 87 of Eden Valley, MN died on Tuesday February 3, 2026 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday February 7, 2026 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday February 6, 2026 at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral and Cremation in Litchfield, MN. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be held at Union Grove Cemetery in Manannah, MN.
Darlene Ann Holmberg was born on December 12, 1938 in Vernon Center, Minnesota on the family farm to Donald and Martha (Meinhold) North. The family moved to Grove City in 1947. She went to Country School #36 through 7th grade and then went to Grove City High School and graduated in 1956. She married Wesley Holmberg on August 9, 1958 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Atwater and they had six children and lived on a farm near Manannah. After Wesley died in 1993, she began working at IRD in Litchfield, where she worked for 11 years. When she retired in 2008, she moved to Eden Valley with her son Curt. Darlene was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, gardening, spending time with her family and watching the Minnesota Vikings. Darlene is survived by her children Brian (Joan) Holmberg of Nisswa, MN, Kent (Janet) Holmberg of McGregor, MN, Chad (Mary) Holmberg of Grove City, MN and Curt Holmberg of Eden Valley, MN; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; siblings Dwayne (Brigid) North of Taylors Falls, MN and Donna (Jim) Caron of Grove City, MN; and daughter-in-law Jocelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Martha; husband Wesley; son Loren; daughter Sandra; sister Vera Johnson; and sons-in-law Lynn Lindquist and Rodney Sommerfeld.
