Darlene Burgess Hudgins, 82, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
Born and raised in Simpsonville, SC, she was the daughter of the late Elton "Bo" and Essie Lee Burgess.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherlyn Vaughn and husband, Scott; son, Brent Hudgins; granddaughters, Karis Hudgins, and Piper Hudgins; and her sister, Dottie Hudgins and husband, Jim; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Darlene was a member of First Baptist Church, Simpsonville. She loved playing the piano and organ, especially during family gatherings. She retired from I&M Industrials where she was the Controller for 20 years. Darlene graduated from Furman University, Class of 1963 and did graduate studies at The University of South Carolina. She was active in many clubs over the years serving on several local and regional boards including; President of Altursa-Greenville Chapter, President of Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)-Greenville Chapter, President of Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA)-Women's Chapter and Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA)-Men's Chapter.
A visitation will be held Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at The Delta located at 305 E College St., Simpsonville with a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in the Simpsonville Municipal Cemetery, located across the street from The Delta. Parking available behind The Delta or across the street on Park Dr. Please do not pull into Cemetery, there is no turnaround.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
