Lewis Earl "Buddy" Mahaffey, 70, husband of Debra Mahaffey of Simpsonville, passed away peacefully in sleep on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Lewis Earl Mahaffey, Sr. and Carolyn Collins Mahaffey Johnson.
Buddy was the Proprietor of Upstate Carolina Investigations. A U.S. Army veteran, he was also previously a City of Greer and City of Simpsonville policeman. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina. Buddy was an avid fisherman, hunter and fan of Carolina Women's Basketball. He was a collector of everything you can collect. Above all, he loved his family.
Left to cherish his legacy, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Leslie Beach (Michael), Cindy Bigham, and Cheryl Bell; sister, Jackie Donehue (Barry); six grandchildren, Taylor Beach, Emma Beach, Austin Bigham, Skyler Bigham, Kylie Bigham, and Jayce Reynolds; nephew, Tommy Donehue; and great-niece, Anna Donehue; and uncle, Jim Mahaffey (Dean).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Stanley Joseph Mahaffey; and his step-father, John Johnson.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in Mountain View Cemetery, located in Greer, South Carolina.
