Stuart B. Mahaffey, was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia, April 22, 1933 and passed September 11, 2025.
He is survived by his loving wife Jimmie Joyce Mahaffey of 73 years, his daughters Debbie Francis, and Jamie Hutton, son-in-laws Rick Francis and John Hutton, grandson Russell Francis and his wife Kathryn, grandson Justin Francis and great grandchildren, Lochlan and Arya Francis.
Stuart was an Air Force veteran. He enlisted in 1953 and was stationed in various locations including Korea for four years.
His training included working on jet engines. He was a reservist for four years.
After serving, a business opportunity led Stuart to Miami, FL. He became owner/proprietor of Stuart's Standard Service, a full-service automotive repair shop for 22 years. In 1979, he moved his family to Melbourne, FL and was a dealer/operator of a Chevron Station.
Later he was employed by McDonnell Douglas where his military training enabled him to work on the Tomahawk Missile Program for 12 years until he retired.
Stuart's early life was spent in the mountains of Virginia where he learned to hunt and fish. He enjoyed outdoor life, the Ocala National Forest, the Everglades and St. John's river. He was president of the Palmetto Muzzle Loader Association of Miami and he made some damn good moonshine.
We love him and will miss him.
