Mel Honeycutt, 89, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, September 20th, 2025.

A retired Major in the United States Air Force, Mel lived a life of service, discipline, and devotion to both his country and his family. A pioneer in the space industry, he devoted his career to advancing America's journey into the heavens. He contributed to the historic Mercury and Gemini missions, the Apollo program that carried mankind to the moon, and later to the MX Missile and the Trident D5 Missile programs, which helped secure our nation. His work left a lasting mark on history and stands as a testament to his brilliance, dedication, and perseverance.

As remarkable as his professional accomplishments were, he will be most remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife of 62 years, Linda, and together they raised four children: Todd (Christina), Leah Loffek (Joe), Tim (Kim) and Ben (Sarah). He was also blessed with seven cherished grandchildren, who brought him great joy: Jeremiah, Cailyn, Joel, Zachary, Elijah, Malachi and Asher. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and his greatest pride was found in the love they shared.

His life was anchored in his deep faith in Jesus Christ. That faith guided his steps, shaped his character, and gave him peace in every season of life.

A service to honor his life will be held at Calvary Chapel Melbourne on Friday, September 26th, at 4 p.m.
