Julie Anne Shane, aged 66, passed away on September 17, 2025, at Palm Bay Hospital in the presence of her friends and family.

She was born on May 8, 1959 in West Point, New York to Preston Potter and Boots Frulla; Julie was the eldest of two children. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in English, and went on to earn her PhD in education from the University of Central Florida. She was a career educator teaching for over 40 years, 24 of which were spent at Bayside High School in Palm Bay, Florida, where she taught humanities and literature to generations of students. Outside of the classroom, Julie was an avid beader, a cat lover, an enjoyer of classic literature and Shakespeare, and a woman deeply devoted to her faith.

She is survived by her mother Boots; her younger brother Tony; her nephew Ethan and many cousins, friends, and former students and colleagues.

A memorial service to honor Julie's life is being planned for Saturday, October 18, 2025 at a time to be announced at Calvary Chapel Melbourne, 2955 Minton Road, West Melbourne.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the HOPE Adoption Center:
