Stephenville Funeral Home - StephenvilleIt is with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved Edith Luenell Shane, 84, passed away on September 19, 2025, In Eastland, Texas. She was born on January 6, 1941, In Gorman, Texas to John Marion and Leona Roberts Allen. She graduated from Desdemona High School. She later married the love of her life, James "Jim" Howard Shane Jr. and became a mother to his two children.
The two of them lived in Denton, Texas together where they started their beautiful life and later retired at the lake in Eastland, Texas.
Nell started her career in banking, then she embarked on a career in nursing. For over 30 years, Nell was a beloved assistant and administrator at the medical practice of Dr. Adami in Denton Tx.
Nell was the welcoming face of the office, and her kindness, compassion, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on all. Dr. Adami's son, John said it perfectly: *Heavens gain, she was everything Jesus asked us to be. Kind, loving, forgiving, encouraging, patient, joyful, loyal and supportive.
At home Nell was known for having a green thumb; her beautiful hibiscus always bursting with blooms every season. She also loved to bake. She delighted in sharing her legendary pound cake with family and friends. Although occasionally she was also known for burning the toast.
Nell was also known to be an avid shopper, and a woman who truly believed that you could never have too many handbags and pairs of shoes.
While she loved shopping, her greatest joys came from spending time and traveling with her beloved husband Jim.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and beloved Aunt.
Well-known "Aunt Nell". whom most people loved to call her.
Nell leaves behind her husband, Jim Shane of Eastland, her son, Dr. James Howard Shane Ill and his wife, Yodi of Austin, her daughter, Sarah Shane-Kellum and her husband Matthew of Dallas, her grandchildren, Bryson, Devin, Oliver, Bethanya, Ryleigh, and Endreyas, one sister, Johnnie Marie Norris and her husband, James Norris of Desdemona and nephews, Mathew Majors (Yulissa) of Gorman, Cody Lynch (Paige) of McKinney, Nathan Majors of Carbon, Hannah Norris, Emma Norris, and Lila Norris all of Desdemona, as well as great-great nieces, Macie Majors, and Lanie Majors of Gorman.
A graveside service will be held in Nell's remembrance of Monday, September 22,2025, at 3 p.m. at Desdemona Garden of Memories Cemetery in Desdemona.
