Darlene Yvonne Luhm, age 80 of Duluth, MN passed away, Monday, December 11, 2023, with family by her side, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born April 11, 1943, to John and Verna Patzer of Cotton, MN.
In her younger years she and her siblings were involved with helping at home and the “logging camp”. They also enjoyed playing and swinging on their childhood swing set together. Being from the country they enjoyed exploring nature.
She graduated from Cotton High School in 1961 and then went on to marry Fred H. Luhm in 1963 and together they raised their two boys. Darlene worked as a nursing assistant at various nursing homes in the Duluth area. Later in her career she did private in-home care as a personal assistant. Some of her favorite activities were spending time visiting with her friends and family. She enjoyed helping others with baking, cooking, and offering rides. Darlene was a very giving person with a huge heart. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She would literally give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Fred H. Luhm, grandparents, and parents. Also, by her twin brother Daniel “Sam” Patzer, Jack Patzer, and Conrad Patzer, two sisters, Ivy Larson, and Maxine Jordahl.
She is survived and will be sadly missed by her sons, Douglas (Sandy) Luhm and Robert Luhm (Karin Holmstrand); grandchildren, Bailey Churchill, Benjamin Luhm, Daniel Luhm, and Emily Luhm; Sisters, Mary (Don) Demars and Irene (Johny) Rossiter; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. A visitation will be held at Dougherty Funeral Home, 600 E. 2nd Street, Duluth, MN., 55805 on January 3, 2024 from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
