Darlene Lofton Melton, 84 (born 03/30/1941) of Diboll, TX passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Her service is entrusted to All Families Mortuary.
Obituary:
Darlene Lofton Melton, 84, left this world to be with Jesus on Thursday morning, August 28, 2025. She passed peacefully in her home, with her husband of 65 years, Steve Melton, by her side.
Darlene faced a courageous 30+ year battle with Parkinson's disease with grace and strength. She was born on March 30, 1941, in Blythe, California, to Les and Sybil Lofton. She was the beloved older sister of Dawn Lofton Woods.
She and Steve built a family rooted in love and faith. Darlene was the proud mother of three sons-Toby, Todd, and Jim-and the cherished grandmother of eight grandchildren (seven girls and one boy). Her legacy of love continues through twelve great-grandchildren.
For most of their life together, Steve served as a preacher, and Darlene walked faithfully beside him as a preacher's wife-a role that requires selflessness, strength, and a servant's heart. She filled that role with grace, nurturing countless lives not only within her family but also within the congregations and communities they served. Her quiet strength and gentle spirit touched many, leaving behind an enduring testimony of faith and compassion.
Darlene will be remembered for her patience, thoughtfulness, and her way of always putting others before herself. Her beautiful singing voice and gift for the piano often filled her home with music and love. Her relationship with Jesus was profound and unwavering, guiding her through life and leaving a legacy of faith for her family and all who knew her.
She was the matriarch of her family and will be deeply missed. Yet there is peace in knowing she is now in Heaven, joyfully dancing with Jesus.
