Burial will be at the Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Darlene passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Walworth County Care Center in Mobridge.

Darlene Arleda Naasz, 95, of Mobridge, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1930, in rural Java, to Albert and Minnie Wahl. In her early childhood, she lived with her grandparents while her parents' managed responsibilities on the family farm. As her grandparents spoke only German, she learned English upon starting school.

On December 12, 1948, Darlene joined hands in marriage to her husband Calvin at Java, SD. Darlene and Calvin went on to have 3 children, Dan, Clyde and Boyd. They lived in a variety of places including Mobridge, Aberdeen, and McLaughlin where they spent several running a variety store. They later moved to Selby to live in her family home. After the passing of Calvin, she moved the family home to Mobridge and lived there to be closer to her children and grandchildren.

Darlene was the shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. Darlene's family will remember her weekly visits and her favorite saying, "I bet you are busy, busy, busy." She will also be remembered by many as the local Avon lady. She put on many miles as she walked to her clients houses each week.

Darlene is survived by her son Dan Naasz of Mobridge; daughter-in-law Alicia Naasz; 7 grandchildren Kristie (Pete) Reichert of Mobridge, Tina (Matt) Aberle of Aberdeen, Danielle (Darin) Thorstenson of Selby, Bridget Naasz of Aberdeen, Nicole (Jason) Dallman of Mobridge, Todd Naasz of Mobridge, Gina (Dan) Perman of Glenham; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Minnie Wahl, her husband Calvin; 2 sons Boyd and Clyde; daughter-in-law Linda Naasz; and a great grandchild Austin Aberle.
