Darlene Ethel Smith, of Farmington, entered eternal rest on January 19, 2026, at Country Meadows in Park Hills, at the age of 86. She was born on November 7, 1939, in Ste. Genevieve County, Missouri, to Guy Denton and Lenda May (Helm) Coulter.
Darlene is survived by her sons, Jerald Smith of Festus, Missouri, Scott (Frances) Smith of Bonne Terre, Missouri, and Ronnie Smith of Park Hills, Missouri; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Carol Coulter of Bonne Terre, Missouri; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, David Smith and Rickey Smith; and her siblings, Richard (the late Barbara) Coulter, James (the late Bea) Coulter, Letty Griffith, Ida Middleton, Guy (the late Mary Etta) Coulter, Loida (the late Linda) Coulter, Clyde (the late Verna) Coulter, Raymond Coulter, and Marcella (the late Frank) Skibicki.
Darlene was a former cook for Bonne Terre Hospital, Parkland Health Center, Ozark Village Restaurant, and the 55+ Club of Farmington. She will be lovingly remembered by her family as an excellent cook and baker, especially known for her lemon meringue and coconut cream pies. Darlene cherished Wednesday night family dinners.
She was a woman of faith who deeply loved her family and was a wonderful mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. at Cozean Memorial Chapel, officiated by Pastor Alan Berry. Interment will follow at Bonne Terre Cemetery.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Country Meadows for their compassionate care of Darlene over the years.
