Darrall L. Belcher, 66, of Meadowview, Va., passed away on February 20, 2026, at his home. He was born on November 25, 1959, to the late Carl H. and Jane Glass Belcher in Baltimore, Maryland.
Darrall was a devoted, loving, and caring husband, father, poppy, son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, neighbor, and friend; if you called on him, he would be right there helping in any way he could. He loved his Savior and couldn’t talk about Him without showing the tears of gladness he had when he truly accepted Him and hoped that everybody around him would do the same.
He loved his family and friends and enjoyed the time he was able to spend with them. His son had his heart, but his granddaughter was his little girl he never had, and he always “loved her more.” Those who knew and loved Darrall were very sure to see the emotions that would well up in him when it came to his wife, son, and granddaughter, his Savior, and friends; he was blessed with a very tender heart, even though he appeared to be nothing but tough on the outside.
Darrall was a member of Friends Fellowship Church in Abingdon, Va., but wasn’t able to attend for the past few years when his health deteriorated so that he couldn’t; however, he wanted an update on the attendance and how the service went every Sunday. Years ago, to the younger ones in church, he was always known as the “Candy Man.”
He worked hard all of his life, providing for his family with a supervisory career in manufacturing. He was also an instrumental part in the building and construction of a church in Meadowview, Va.; it gave him great pleasure in knowing he had a part in a ministry truly from the ground up.
Darrall was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Jane Belcher; siblings, Amanda Testerman, Dennis Belcher, and Joyce Rasnick; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on the Belcher, Glass, and Humphrey side of his family.
Darrall is survived by his wife of 45 years and also his caregiver, Ruth Ann; son, Blake Belcher; and granddaughter, KaLea Belcher. He is also survived by his mother- and father-in-law, Fred and Bessie Holbrook (Fred took Darrall under his wing like a son and taught him everything he needed to know about building and remodeling); sister-in-law, Rose Moore; brother-in-law, Fred Junior Holbrook; aunt and uncle, Maxie Glass and Frank Glass; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special cousin, Estelle McVey, who kept in close contact with Darrall, and Ralph Belcher, Jr., who was always a help to Darrall and his family, as he was only a phone call away.
The family would like to thank the following for the special care given to Darrall over the years: Dr. Emory Robinette, Dr. Bruce Higinbotham and staff at Abingdon Family Health Care, Dr. Jon Burress, Dr. Victoria Witt, and Dr. Lora Friend.
The service and committal will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the Forest Hills Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, 19415 Lee Highway, Abingdon, Va. Pastor Tommy Wilson will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, where pallbearers will be Ralph Belcher, Jr., Darrell Hawthorne, and other cousins and/or nephews of Mr. Belcher. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service.
Friends may call on the family at the home of Ruth Ann Belcher. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends Fellowship Church, 31244 Ramblewood Dr., Meadowview, VA 24361; the American Heart Association; or your local diabetes foundation.
