Darrel Eckes Obituary
Darrel D. Eckes passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on August 28, 1936, in Marshfield, and spent his life in Wausau, where he was known for his warm smile, generous spirit, and vibrant personality.
Darrel dedicated many years of his life to his work at Zastrow Beer Distribution, where he made enduring friendships. His passion for life was reflected in his love for shooting pool, polka dancing, and playing cribbage, earning him the affectionate nickname "Mr. Ya Ya."
A loving husband and devoted family man, Darrel is survived by his cherished wife, Aloha Knetter-Eckes, nine children, numerous grandchildren, and several siblings. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille, parents, and three siblings.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of service. Darrel will be entombed at Restlawn Memorial Park.
