Darrel Siewert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Family Funeral Home - Twin Valley on Nov. 15, 2025.
Darrel Siewert, age 65, of Twin Valley, formerly of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his home.

Darrel DeWayne Siewert was born on October 3, 1960, in Fargo, ND, to his loving mother, Caroline Siewert. Throughout his childhood, Darrel lived in Fargo, Duluth, and Two Harbors, MN. At age 17, he entered the United States Navy, serving primarily in San Diego, CA, during his four years of service before receiving an honorable discharge.

Darrel held many jobs over the years, which allowed him to travel and live in states including New Jersey and Alaska before eventually settling in Detroit Lakes. In 1999, he began working for Wausau Supply Company, where he built a long and successful career, rising to Sales Manager and later Vice President before retiring in 2015. Never one to sit still for long, Darrel purchased a gas station in Detroit Lakes in 2016, running it for several years before selling it. He later moved to Twin Valley in the late 2010s, where he worked part-time with Ada Auto Supply and enjoyed a relaxed retirement in the good company of Deb Omdahl.

Family was important to Darrel, and he valued the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He took interest in their activities, stayed active in their lives, and enjoyed any opportunity to be with them.

Outside of work, Darrel loved fishing and cheering on Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins. He enjoyed cooking and grilling, often with a cold beverage in hand, and looked forward to traveling, a favorite destination being Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Darrel is survived by his children: Christina (Steve) Mork, Sarah (Brian) Woelfel, and Kirby (Megan) Siewert; grandchildren: Keller, Jax, Kolt, Axel, Helen, and baby Siewert due in March; siblings: John Nelson, Arvella Nelson, and Norman Nelson; significant other, Deb Omdahl; and many nieces and nephews. Darrel was preceded in death by his mother.

Arrangements are pending.
