Gene Albery was born on March 28, 1934, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Ellis and Olga Albery. His formative years were spent exploring the Black Hills alongside his nephew Ronnie and his brother Bob, forming a trio known for their adventurous spirit and intimate knowledge of the area.

Gene graduated from Hill City High School in 1952. In 1954, Gene’s life took two significant turns: he enlisted in the Army and married Delores Law, the love of his life. The couple’s journey together saw them move 28 times across the country, reflecting their commitment to each other and their spirit of adventure.

Throughout their life together, Gene and Delores welcomed two daughters, four grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, building a large and loving family.

Gene is survived by his devoted wife, Delores; his brother, Bob Albery; and his daughter Lori (Rob) Grandy, along with her children Lindsay Kuhbacher and Phil Edwards. Also surviving are his daughter Janet (Tim) Freeman and her sons Josh (Megan) Petersen and Cort (Brittany) Petersen. Gene and Delores were also blessed later in life with bonus grandchildren, J.D. Parkhurst and Keena Neether, nieces, family, and many friends.

Those that went on before him include; his parents, brothers; Virgil and Vern, sister Ruby, and best friend Perry Strombeck.

Papa was loved by his greats, Zane, Kaspar, and Elise Kuhbacher, Aiden, Seth, and Carter Petersen, Hudson and Harrison Edwards, Ryatt and Cayden Grandy, Tynlee, Logynn, Blake, and Mia Petersen.

Gene’s legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he cherished.
