Mr. Darrell Wayne Bedgood, age 76, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 29, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until he hour of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Bedgood was born in Washington County, the son of the late William Edgar Bedgood and the late Gloria Jiminez Bedgood. He was a graduate of Washington County High School, where he played trumpet in the marching band, and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. During his working career, Mr. Bedgood worked for the Kaolin Industry as a project manager, and he was also involved in the Jari Project in Monte Dourado, Para, Brazil in the 1970s. In his free time, he enjoyed deep-sea fishing, shooting pheasant and dove, and reading Clive Cussler novels. Mr. Bedgood was a member of North Shelby Baptist Church in Birmingham, where he served as a deacon. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Bedgood; brother, Richard Allen Bedgood; and niece, Samantha Elizabeth Bryan.
Mr. Bedgood is survived by his wife, Denise Bedgood; daughters, Deirdre Bedgood Lawson, and Tammy Faucett Trott (Darrell); sons, Neill Bedgood, and Brett Faucett (Katharine); grandchildren, Aaron Lawson, Bailey Fox, Lily Grace Trott, Caroline Trott, Libby Faucett, and Benji Faucett; great grandchildren, Elijah Lawson, J.D. Fox, and Mila Fox; siblings, Gary Bedgood (Kay) and Karen Carter (Ken); nieces and nephews, Adam Bedgood, Jessica Bryan Clifton, Kara Bedgood Duggan, Seth Bedgood, and Nate Bedgood; his beloved schnauzer, Molly; and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will also be held in Birmingham at North Shelby Baptist Church Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 11:00am.
Donations may be made in Mr. Bedgood's memory to North Shelby Baptist Church, 4100 Belcher Drive, Birmingham, AL 35242.
