Darrell Kelley Farney passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 at the age of 86. The family will receive guests at 1:00 P.M. with service to follow at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church, with Steve Thomas officiating. Burial to follow at Robinson Cemetery.
Darrell was born August 19, 1938 in Golinda, TX, to E.S. and Jewel (Moore) Farney. He attended school at Satin, TX, until it closed and he then attended and graduated from Chilton High School in 1956. He married Evelyn Wuebker December 10, 1960 in Robinson, TX.
Darrell worked for the Texas Department of Transportation for 7 years. He then worked for TXU and retired with 26 years of service. He had also been employed by Central Freight Lines and Hillcrest Hospital.
Darrell was past Master of Baylor Masonic Lodge #1235 and was a member of 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Bodies. He played music for many years and for 8 years had The Brazos Express Band. Darrell enjoyed music, hunting, and drinking coffee with many of his buddies every morning. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Robinson, TX.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, E.S. and Jewel (Moore) Branch, his sister-in-law Wilma Westbrook and brother-in-law Herman (Buck) Wuebker. He is survived by his wife Evelyn; daughter Sherrie Powell and husband Greg, granddaughters Shelbie Lambert and husband Drew, Emily Powell and great granddaughter Andie, Brother-in-law John Westbrook, sister-in-law Nita Wuebker and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Robinson, 104 E. Stegall, Robinson, TX 76706 or charity of your choice.
Family and Friends will join in singing I’ll Fly Away and How Great Thou Art.
