Darrell Fletcher, affectionately known as "Fletch," was born on September 17, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas. He departed this world on November 30, 2024, in Groves, Texas, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by his loved ones.
Fletch proudly served his country for nine years in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where he utilized his skills as a machinist repairing the PT boats and keeping our Navy afloat. His dedication and service during this tumultuous time are a testament to his character and commitment to his nation.
Fletch was a man of many passions and interests. He embraced the thrill of travel and took great joy in RV’ing - especially when his family could join him. His adventurous spirit also led him to the water, where he enjoyed water skiing and fishing with a fondness for catching flounder. Fletch possessed a keen mind and was a history buff, always eager to share knowledge and stories from the past. He was also very proud to have served as an educator at PNGHS teaching and molding young minds to become machinists.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Mona Fletcher; his children: Charles Fletcher and his wife Sheng-Yen of Groves, Corey Bellard and his wife Laura of Port Neches, Chad Bellard and his wife Angie of Nederland, Brent Bellard of Groves, Monty Lytle and his wife Jan of Salina, Kansas, and Guy Lytle and his wife Vicki of Sacramento, California. Fletch was a proud grandfather to 24 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 31 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. He is also survived by his only sibling, Diane Easton of Orange.
Fletch's memory will forever be cherished by all who knew him, as he touched countless lives with his kindness, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gaylene Beach; his son, Tim Lytle; and his parents, Charles H. and Mercedes Fletcher.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619. Fletch will be honored with Military Honors and buried at Oak Bluff Memorial Park.
