Katherine Diane Basham, 72, of Port Arthur, Texas, entered into the presence of her Savior on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at her home.
She was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on July 2, 1953, to Jesse Anderson, Jr. and Dorothy Faye Anderson.
She was a proud mother to her sons, Terry Basham and wife, Christina of Colmesneil, Texas, and Chad Basham and wife, Misty of Lumberton, Texas. One of her greatest joys in life was being “Maw-Maw” to Sierra Biehle and husband, Tyler, Gabriel Basham and wife, Drue, Abigail Basham, Michael Basham, Mason McPhatter, and Madilynn Basham; and “Nana” to Great-grandchildren, Koen and Emerie Biehle and Ivory Basham. She celebrated their accomplishments, prayed over their futures, and treasured every hug, story, and memory made with them. Her love for her children and grandchildren was fierce, joyful, and unwavering.
Katherine had a special appreciation for antiques, which to her were pieces of history that held stories of the past. She saw beauty in the old and the meaningful, a reflection of how she viewed life itself. She valued family traditions, memories and the simple blessings that so often mean the most. Katherine’s life was a gift to her family, her friends and to everyone blessed enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; and her sisters, Sheila Peters and Vernell Phillips.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gabriel Basham, Michael Basham, Mason McPhatter, Tyler Biehle, Dylan Benoit and Jimbo Higgins.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas., on Friday, February 20, 2026, beginning at 10:00a.m. with the funeral service beginning at 11:00a.m. The family will have a private graveside service at Colmesneil Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas.
