Darrell C. McLennan

Darrell C. McLennan, age 83, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois. He was born July 12, 1939, in Potsdam, New York, the son of the late George & Glendora (Gonyeau) McLennan. Darrell served in the U.S. Army from 1958 through 1978, with one tour in Vietnam from June 29, 1970, to June 12, 1971. After he retired from the Army, he went to work for Emerson Electric as a Field Engineer.
He is survived by one son, Christopher McLennan & wife Lori of Edwardsville; two daughters, Sue Ellen Peters & husband Kenneth of Kansas City, Kansas, Paula Lazaroff & husband Michael of Ladue, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Brandon, Valarie, Matthew, Elyse, Taylor, Patrick and Danielle; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Walter McLennan & wife Kay of Potsdam, NY; and one sister, Myrna Robinson & husband Bob of Albany, New York. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Ann McLennan, a daughter, Laura Swan; and two brothers, Ronald & Donald McLennan.
Darrell was very proud of his 20 years in the Army and wore his Army and Veteran items (which he had many) with great pride. After retirement his career took him to all parts of the world, and he loved to share those experiences. Darrell did not know a stranger. If you were willing to listen, he was willing to talk. Later in life he enjoyed playing cards, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Vikings or any other sporting event with his son Chris.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to the Siteman Cancer Center.
