Darrell Milton Merfeld

Darrell Milton Merfeld, 77, of Morse Mill, Missouri, passed away on September 2, 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend, who will be deeply missed. Darrell was born on December 18, 1947, in Mason City, Iowa to Wayne and Frances Merfeld. He was the first born of six children. He grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin and graduated from Bradford High School. After high school, Darrell entered an apprenticeship program where he became a qualified journeyman electrician, and member of IBEW. He worked for American Motors Lakefront Plant in Kenosha, until relocating in 1986 to St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for Chrysler. He retired as the Body in White Maintenance Manager in 2008. In 1984, he married Nancy Baum, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. In March of this year, they celebrated 41 years together. Darrell enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles especially on country roads. Darrell valued and appreciated his family. He looked forward to fishing trips to Canada with his dad. In his retirement, he spent his time caring for their 20-acre homestead, woodworking, bird watching, and gardening. Darrell had a big heart for animals. Over the years he rescued many dogs, cats, and horses, some with special needs. Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Merfeld, and mother, Frances (Frazier) Merfeld. He is survived by his wife Nancy, daughters, Jill (Ray) Pageau, Jennifer Baum (partner, Craig Kidd), grandchildren Michael Marshall, and Taylor (Emily) Pageau, and siblings Cheryl (Doug) Samples, Gerald (Doreen) Merfeld, Merrill (Mary) Merfeld, Carol Hoeft, Jeneyl (Steve) Anglin, as well as many nieces and nephews. Celebration of Life will be held on September 21, 2025 from 1:00 to 5:00 at Holeshots Saloon, 7488 State Route 30, Dittmer, Missouri.
