DARRELL POWELL 12/01/1965 - 08/10/2025 Darrell Wayne Powell, Shawnee, Okla., resident, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, in Shawnee at the age of 59. Darrell was born on December 1, 1965, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to James John and Clara Jane (Tims) Powell. He grew up and spent most of his life in the Seminole and Shawnee areas. Darrell enjoyed attending Pow Wows, working on cars and being surrounded by family. He was always ready to help and lend a hand for family and friends. Darrell was a very kind hearted person. Darrell is survived by his daughter, Kendall Powell of Shawnee; brothers, Dennis James Powell of Shawnee and Ronnie Powell of Shawnee; sisters, Mary Bowers of Oklahoma City, Okla., Vanessa Powell of Shawnee and Brenda Powell of Shawnee, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Powell; Judy Walker, Theresa Powell-Ahgoom and Tiffany Powell-Ahgoom. Those serving as casket bearers will be Tayden Leanos, Ryan Neconish, Camron Price, Michael Plumey, Kendall Powell and Chris Patton. Honorary casket bearers will be Misty Powell, Jennifer Powell, Tasia Powell, Melinda Carter, Taylor Yahola, Tara Yahola, Brittany Neconish, Jordan Price, Michael Herrod, Jessalynn Powell, Jeremy Bowers and Glenn Price. Viewing was from 1 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 2025, and from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, Okla. A wake was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Swearingen Funeral Home Chapel in Seminole. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Many Springs Baptist Church in Holdenville, Okla., with Rev. Frank Moppin and Rev. Jonathan Moppin officiating. Interment will follow at John Powell Family Cemetery in Holdenville. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
