Darrell Gene Russell was born on June 5th, 1960, at Tachikawa Air Base, Japan to Loyd B Russell (deceased) and Wilma J Long. Darrell was a longtime resident of Paris, Texas. Darrell is survived by his sister, Connie Jo Prys, and his Brother-in-Law, Mark Prys, along with nieces and nephews. Darrell fathered 2 children (Corey and Kyra) with Susan Dorman.
His arrival in this world started with an exceedingly difficult birth, resulting in minimal brain damage. Despite this lifelong condition, with the support of his parents, he attended several schools in New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas for people with disabilities, learning the skills needed to survive in an adult world. Darrell developed into a productive commercial laborer working long hours in Oklahoma City and Paris Texas to provide for himself and his family.
Darrell maintained a kind heart and would help any who required it. Helping family was especially important to him, and he always responded to a call or request for assistance.
Darrell will be interned beside his father in the Leesburg cemetery, Camp County, Texas, Saturday, July 26th, 2025, at 1pm under the direction of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home.
