Darrell Lee Schumaker of Oak Ridge went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2025.
He was born August 19, 1940, in Charleston, WV to Roy Schumaker and Trula Hall Schumaker. A 1960 graduate of Allegany High School, served in the US Navy on the carrier ship WASP, retired from the Dept. of Agriculture. He was an active member of New Life Church of the Nazarene and loved his church family. Darrell loved spending time with family and his faithful dog, Buddy. He loved chocolate, watching sports, had a collection of replica old cars and trucks and t-shirts from various places.
Darrell was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, William and Maxine Schumaker, who he was raised by, his daughter, Crissy Schumaker, brother-in-law, Harvey Rhodes, and son-in-law, Jon Seeger.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Schumaker of Oak Ridge; sisters, Linda Rhodes of Falling Water, WV., Barb (Ed) Fisher of Hedgesville, WV.; daughters, Regina Seeger of Sabina, OH., Cheryl (Bennie Ousley, Jr.) Lindsey of Ashville, OH., Teresa Lindsey of Winchester, Ky.; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, number of nieces and nephews.
Receiving of friends will be held on Monday, July 7th from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Service to be held immediately following at 7:00pm at New Life Church of the Nazarene 200 Lafayette Drive Oak Ridge, TN. A military burial will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy Knoxville, TN on Tuesday, July 8th at 8:30am.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to NHC of Oak Ridge and to Hospice for the excellent care that was given to Darrell.
