Darrell L. Shadd, age 66, passed away on July 30, 2023, at North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. He was born on February 2, 1957, in his hometown of Lake Butler. Darrell led a remarkable life filled with talent, generosity, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to all who knew him. After graduating from high school, Darrell embarked on an adventurous journey to Alaska in search of work. Little did he know that this would be the beginning of several memorable years spent exploring the stunning landscapes and forging lifelong connections. His time there allowed him to cultivate his skills as a master carpenter as well as indulge his love for fishing and hunting. Upon returning back home, Darrell opened a upholstery shop where he tapped into another talent of restoring furnishings. Known for his quick wit and jestful nature, Darrell was a true jokester. He possessed the remarkable ability to lighten any situation with his infectious laughter and lighthearted banter. His selflessness was unparalleled; if Darrell promised to help someone, they could rest assured that he would follow through without fail. Darrell is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Mae Shadd; maternal grandparents, Dan and Lorena Peeples; and brother Mitchell Shadd.
Darrell's passing leaves a tremendous void in the lives of those closest to him. He is survived by his loving father, Leslie (Carolyn) Shadd and mother, Carolyn Peeples Jarrard. His siblings: Bonnie Smith, Jeff (Marsha) Shadd, Lori (Harold) Archer, and Becky (Eddie) Lee; his nieces and nephews: Doug, Davy, Melissa, Michelle, Jason, Joshua, and Daland; and a host of extended family.
Friends and well-wishers are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Archer-Milton Funeral Home on August 3, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
