Darrell Royce Sturdivant, born on May 23, 1942, in Snyder, Texas, gracefully departed this life at his home on February 5, 2025. He is remembered as a loving father, a devoted friend, and a respected businessman who exemplified a life of hard work and commitment.

Darrell's journey began on a family dairy farm in Snyder, where he was raised as a Lutheran. After graduating from Snyder High School, he honorably enlisted in the United States Army, a chapter that undoubtedly shaped his character and values. Following his military service, he transitioned into a career selling tractors and farm equipment, which ultimately led him to establish his own business, S&D Construction. As a business owner, he took great pride in providing for his family and instilling a strong work ethic in his sons, a legacy he cherished deeply.

In 1961 Cindy,was born to Darrell became a father for the first time and continued to grow his family with the birth of his daughter Charla in 1964, affectionately known as “Charlie.” He celebrated the arrival of his first son, Royce, in 1968, followed by the birth of his second son, Johnny, in 1973. In 1984, he married Jeanette L. McDaniel, and together they merged their families, creating a rich tapestry of love and support.

Darrell was a man whose personality shone brightly. He had a natural glowing light that endeared him to those around him. A lover of Mexican food, he also enjoyed gathering with friends every Saturday morning over coffee, where he would stay connected with the latest gossip and enjoy the camaraderie of companionship. His passion for the outdoors was manifested in his hobbies, which included deer and dove hunting, as well as watching football games.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his special friend, Betty Gipson; five sons, Royce Darrell Sturdivant, Evan McDaniel and wife Micki, Aaron McDaniel and wife Edie, Byron McDaniel and wife Joanne, Kendal McDaniel and wife Nikki; one daughter, Charla D. Weaver and S. Vance Weaver; along with eighteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Each of them carries forward the spirit of his dedication and love.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, John Oren Sturdivant and Opal Juanita Sturdivant; his wife, Jeanette L. Sturdivant; his son, Johnny Sturdivant; and his daughter, Cindy Gayle Lyle. He will be profoundly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

The family extends a special thank you to Interim Hospice for their compassionate care during this time. As we remember Darrell, let us celebrate the legacy of a man who valued family, friendship, and hard work, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Davila Community Center located at 20803 FM487, Davilla, TX 76523.

Arrangements are under the direction of Sabrina Young at Young's Daughters Funeral Home and Bereavement Center.
