Leon William Sturdivant

Leon W. Sturdivant, age 74, of Beaver Dams, NY, passed away on February 13, 2026, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY, reunited with his son, Leon 'Slim' Sturdivant.

Born on June 29, 1951, in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Leon W. Sturdivant and Verna L. (Ganung) Clark.

Leon spent many years working his farm and caring for his cows. He had a deep love for his animals and took great pride in the land he worked. He also enjoyed working on cars and meticulously maintaining his lawn, which was truly his pride and joy. In his spare time, Leon loved listening to Elvis Presley and watching Walker, Texas Ranger.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and the pride he took in his home and family.

Leon is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Rebecca Sturdivant of Beaver Dams, NY; children: Tammy (James) Williams of Montour Falls, NY, Elvis Sturdivant of VanEtten, NY, Marjorie (Mark) Hulslander of Murfreesboro, TN, Scott Sturdivant of Beaver Dams, NY; daughter-n-law, Loretta Sturdivant of Addison, NY; grandchildren: Brandon, Matthew and Hannah, Nicole, James, Trisha and Megan, Jordan, Josiah and Jesse, Austin and Kaitlin; great grandchildren: Izaak, Elyjah, Rorke, Octavia, Bella, Dawson and Alystar, Gabriel and Gwendolyn, Vincenzo, Larkin and Llewellyn; sisters: Nellie, Thelma, Waneta, Sandy; brother, Edward; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leon was predeceased by his son, Leon Sturdivant; infant siblings: Kathy and Leslie; and sisters: Ellen, Connie, Sharon and Barbara; and his beloved dog, Toby.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Beaver Dams Fire Department, 1165 Co Rte. 19, Beaver Dams, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at the fire department at 12:00 pm, Jimmy Radford and David Wakeman officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Beaver Dams Cemetery, NY.
