Michael Leo Romance

Michael Leo Romance, 64, passed away peacefully at home on February 3, 2026, in Elmira, NY. Michael was born on March 8, 1961, in Corning, NY, to the late John and Paulene R. (Clark) Romance.

Michael graduated from Corning West High School and later attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration. He built a successful career in hospitality and was most recently employed as Director of Food and Beverage at the corporate headquarters of Corning Incorporated.

Michael was an avid golfer and member at Willowcreek Golf Club. He was a devoted sports fan, cheering for the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Philadelphia Flyers. He loved music, especially Bruce Springsteen and Bob Dylan, and was an enthusiastic reader and talented home cook. Michael was known for his great dry sense of humor, his kindness, and his gentle spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Anna (Glenn) Bianchi of Hilton, NY; his two beloved grandchildren, Luca and Genevieve; his best friend and the mother of his daughter, Cynthia Romance of Newtown, PA; his siblings, Darlene (Barry) Greenawald of Florida, Judy (Yustin) Riopko of Florida, and Kevin (Yvonne) Romance of Beaver Dams, NY; nephews Gerald (Robert) Lazore of New York City and Andrew (Adriana) Romance of Texas; niece Nikki (John) Tiffany of Elmira, NY; and his mother-in-law, Patricia Figge of Johnstown, PA.

In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his father-in-law, Joachim Figge.

Family and friends are invited to call at Carpenter's Funeral Home, 14 E. Pulteney Street, Corning, NY, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following.
