Drag racing enthusiast and retired mechanic, Darrell Allen Zaroka “Z”, passed away on October 25, 2024 at the age of 67, surrounded by loved ones. His love of life did not come to an end with his death. Those who know him will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
He retired from Yellow Freight Trucking with 44 years of devotion. After retirement, Darrell remained busy by continuing to work alongside his wife, Sharon, at home in the yard and at The University of Akron.
Darrell was born to Peter & Elinore Zaroka (Zrioka) on August 19, 1957 in Akron, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter & Elinore. Brother, David Zaroka. Father-in law and mother-in-law, Lonzo & Eloise Gregory. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe & Merry Gregory. And his adoring fur-babies: Hobo, Rosie, Baby, Oscar & Gunner.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon Zaroka. His son Robert Marquis Jr. (Allison) of Copley, his daughter Hollie Sitosky (Josh) of Wilmington, NC. Four Grandchildren: Christopher, Abigale, Cameron, and Karina. Niece: Melissa Zaroka of Akron. Best Friend Jim Iceman, and a host of extended family and friends, including Tom the cat.
The family will receive visitors 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon, Friday, November 1, 2024 at the Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 East Market Street). Following the visitation will be a procession to Copley Cemetery with graveside services.
