John Paul (Bimbo) Salinsky, 71, of Akron,OH passed away peacefully, and surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 at Summa Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
A son of the late John and Evelyn (Halderman) Salinsky, he was born on April 20, 1954 in Barberton, Ohio. A Vietnam Veteran, John served in the 1st Bn, 25th Inf. Div. ("Tropic Lightning") in a Combat Support Co. as an Armor Crewman, and Armor Recon Specialist. He was a proud Union Ironworker, and was a member of Iron Workers Local 17 (Cleve.) from his apprenticeship until retirement. He loved his job, and being a part of projects such as major buildings and bridges that will last for generations. He loved barbecuing, fishing, hunting, music, movies, and spending time with family and friends. He was a generous man who donated to many charities, and spent much of his free time doing pig roast fundraisers for those in need due to injury or illness. He would freely give to anyone in need asking nothing in return. He was a devoted husband to his wife Barbara for 41 years before her untimely passing in 2021, and would eventually go on to find love again. At the time of his passing he was engaged to be married. He will be fondly remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
John is survived by his two brothers, Michael (Bobbie) and Patrick Salinsky. His two daughters, Sarah (Jim) Spolar and Andrea Salinsky, grandchildren: John Michael, Romy, Alex, Madeleynn, Jordan, Malana, and Rayna; and Fiancee, Rosetta Nelson
Preceding him in death, along with his parents, were his wife Barbara Jo (Young), and son Patrick James.
A Memorial Service will be held at Harmony Baptist Church, on Feb. 28th at 1127 Southeast Ave, Tallmadge, OH 44278, with Pastor Bernard Christy officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:30pm-5pm.
