Sharon Rovell Brown, affectionately known as “GaGa,” was born on January 17, 1959, in Indianapolis, Indiana. On January 26, 2026, Sharon transitioned peacefully in Stow, Ohio, at the age of 67, surrounded by love and the legacy of a life well lived. Sharon was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James H. Brown and Dorothy P. Humphrey Brown; and her cherished siblings, Joyce Brown-McMurray, James Ray Brown, and Howard Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted children, Christina (MichaelAngelo) Shuttlesworth and Michael Anthony Thompson; her treasured grandchildren, Taylor D’Nae Thompson, Michael Lavell Shuttlesworth, Brooklyn Kristina Shuttlesworth, Jaylen Michael Thompson, Maddison Leigh McCray, Mason Lee McCray, Mikyah Alise Thompson, Journey Aniyah Shuttlesworth, and Journee Elizabeth Hutchinson; and her precious great-granddaughter, Lydia Analeia Shuttlesworth.

Sharon is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Rex (Molly) Brown, Mary Lee, and Merron (Amy) Brown. She leaves a host of loving nieces and nephews who adored her dearly: Thytira (Kenny) Benjamin, Darrell Tré (Michelle) McMurray, Mahogany Brown, Jarrell Dancy, Ariel Dancy, Amala (Josh) Tyburski, Aasin (Rachel) Lee, and Hannah (Tanner) Gutzmer. In addition, she is fondly remembered by her best friends, Jennifer Little and Pat; The Buckner Family; and her dear sister-friend, Dewon Buckner-Hines. Sharon attended John F. Kennedy High School, and furthered her education at the University of Akron and Stark State College. She dedicated her professional life to service and care, working with compassion and commitment as a CDM, and later retiring from Altercare of Stow and Texas Roadhouse (Stow).

Sharon found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved frequenting the casino, playing cards, cooking delicious meals, watching cooking shows, bargain shopping, and spending time with her family—especially around a good meal or simply “just because.” She was not just the life of the party, she was the party. There was never a dull moment whether she was at the poker table or the kitchen table. Her sense of humor was unmatched, and she always had the perfect movie quote for any situation. Sharon loved deeply, corrected honestly, and comforted generously, often with laughter woven into her words. She worked hard and played just as hard. Whether you knew her as Mom, GaGa, Sister, Auntie, or Friend, Sharon loved you in her own way, and that love left a mark that will never fade.

The family of Sharon Rovell Brown extends heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to the compassionate caregivers, service professionals, coworkers, and loved ones who walked alongside her and our family during this tender season. Special thanks to the entire staff of Akron City Hospital (7-East and 3-East Palliative Care), Hudson Springs Nursing & Rehab in Stow, Ohio, Adams Mason Funeral Home, Akron, Ohio, and the Staff of Texas Roadhouse (Stow) for the care, dignity, kindness, and support shown to our beloved Sharon.

We also extend our deepest thanks to all who called, texted, sent cards, brought food, prayed, offered encouragement, or simply listened. Your love, presence, and compassion have been a source of strength and comfort to our family, and we are forever grateful.

All cards, flowers, and expressions of love may be sent to the family at: 3414 Adaline Drive, Stow, OH 44224

Held by Heaven

God called you home, we let you go, Though tears may fill our eyes; We trust His hands that carried you Beyond these earthly skies.

Your life now rests in perfect peace, Your race on earth is run; No more the weight of weary days, You’re resting in God’s Son.

We cling to hope His Word has sealed, That death is not the end; For those who sleep in Christ our Lord Will rise and live again.

So though we grieve, we do not mourn As those who have no sight We hold the promise heaven gave: We’ll meet again in light. by Thytira M. Benjamin
