Darryl Carpenter

SHELBY: Darryl Wayne Carpenter, born on November 1, 1961, took his final joyride into the sunset on March 10, 2025, at the age of 63. Hailing from Gaston County and concluding his earthly adventures in Cleveland County, Darryl lived a life full of sawdust, speed, and a whole lot of Cowboys spirit.
Darryl was a man who could turn a chunk of wood into a masterpiece with his trusty sawmill and his masterful carpentry skills. If it needed building, he was your guy. When not covered in sawdust, you'd find him tearing down the highway on his Harley, wind in his hair and a grin on his face, or reminiscing about his younger years spent riding horses.
A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Darryl never missed a game, cheering on his team with the same passion he had for a good Western film. His love for family and faith was as strong as his handshake, and he leaves behind a legacy as sturdy as the furniture he crafted.
Darryl is reunited with his parents, Wayne and Joyce Carpenter, his sister Sherry, and brother Brian. Left to carry on his legacy are his beloved wife, Kathy Carpenter; his sons, Scott Carpenter (fiancée Cindy Morico), Chris Carpenter (wife Erica), Zachary Carpenter (significant other Shannon Weaver), Joseph Stone, and Jason Stone; his daughter Rebecca Cox; and sisters Debbie Grayson (husband Randy), Sandy Shannon (husband Scott), and Vickie Morton (husband Bill). His grandchildren Landon and Bailey Carpenter, along with a host of more grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, will surely keep his memory alive with their stories.
His loyal companions, Dallas Carpenter the dog and Susie the Shop Dog, will miss his presence but will undoubtedly hold onto their favorite memories of him.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Darryl's life is planned for Monday, March 17, 2025, 5:00-7:00, rest assured, there will be plenty of tales, laughter, and maybe even a few sawdust shavings.
In the meantime, keep your woodworking tools sharp, your bikes shiny, and your love for family close-just as Darryl would have wanted.
