Darryl Wesley Palmquist August 2, 1958 - October 9, 2025
Darryl Palmquist, 67, passed away early on the morning of the 9th in his sleep, losing his very long battle with MS. Born in Turlock California to Gordon and Janet Palmquist on August 2 1958. Darryl was a very smart man who loved to make others laugh. He was quick to find something funny with most things in life. He was also a highly intelligent person who had a fascination with Technology even back in the days when computers were only found in large corporations.
Darryl graduated from Spring Lake Park High School in 1976 and joined the Air Force right out of high school. He went on to learn how to work on computers and other things that most people back in the late 70's and early 80's could only dream of. He went on to work for a place that let him put his knowledge and his smarts into building computers and programming them where he spent a few years doing what he loved doing. Sadly his body had other ideas and once he was diagnosed with MS, he couldn't keep working.
Darryl however never was one to back down from a challenge. Even in his 20's with a depressing diagnosis, he didn't let it bring him down. He worked for years after he was forced to retire to help others with MS by talking with people and even trying new experimental treatments. His goal in life was to make sure he could do his part to fight this terrible illness.
Darryl never had any kids of his own, but he still was a big influence on the lives of his nephews and his niece. I for one was lucky to have Darryl as part of my life. He was like a father to me even if he was only my uncle. When my father left when I was 2 Darryl was there for my mom and for myself and my brothers. He came to every school event, every sporting event he could make it to, every concert. He didn't let his illness define him for most of his life. He was the joy and life of our family and the person who showed me what a good man was like.
Darryl is Survived by his mother Janet, his two sisters Melinda and Suzan, his nephews and Niece Arron, Erik, Emily, Kyle, and Trevor. And so many more family that has grown over the years. I will always remember my uncle as being a strong man full of joy and love even until his dying day. Darryl will be missed, but now his is no longer trapped in the body that failed him in the last year of his life. He is in a better place, with his father who passed almost 20 years before him. Fly free Darryl and as you said on the last time we saw you "I'll see you on the other side."
For those who read this small bit about my Uncle Darryl all I can ask is that you do as he did. Live life to the fullest, be happy and find joy. Also please, donate to the MS Society in Darryl's name. They are an amazing organizations who's ghoul is to help those with MS and to one day find a cure. https://donate.nationalmssociety.org/pages/8528?utm_source=sc&utm_campaign=drefy26_core_brand&gad_source=1&utm_medium=semg&eventID=2053&referrer=sc-drefy26-core-brand-semg&donate=2053 To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Darryl, please visit our floral store.
