Darryl Smith Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 24, 2024.
Darryl Smith, 65, passed away February 23, 2024, after a long, courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Darryl was born January 29th, 1959 in Nixa, MO to his late father, Oliver Smith and his mother, Linda (Taylor) Sanders. He was the oldest of five children. He grew up in Ellettsville, IN and remained there the rest of his life. Darryl dedicated his career to telecom engineering. And took pride in mentoring and coaching everyone he knew to grow in innumerable ways.
Darryl adored his four sons, Joshua, Jacob, Toby and Noah Smith. In 2007, he married his soul mate, Tamara. He then gained two step children, Lucas and Kylie Teague, who he loved as his own. He spent his life cherishing his large family and numerous pets, always ready for the new adventure tomorrow would bring.
Darryl enjoyed the simpler things, sports, the beach, a warm summer day, a walk in the woods with his dogs, starting new projects, a hot cup of coffee, learning to play guitar, and a beautiful red - orange sunset was always his favorite. He had a special way of putting life into perspective and sharing that with those he loved.
Darryl leaves, to cherish his loving memory, his mother, wife, six children, three grandchildren, four siblings: Denice Cage, David Sanders, Deanna Conrad, and Darla Parrish, three brothers-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He will be loved and missed by many.
"Blessed are those who plant trees under whose shade they will never sit."
A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later Date. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
