Darryl Bernard Smith, affectionately known as "Dip," was born January 12,1963 and peacefully received his wings on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the age of 62. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the beloved son of Barbara Roberts, lovingly referred to as "Big Bob."

Darryl was a man of many talents. He was both tech-savvy and a gifted painter. Known for his vibrant personality, he was truly the life of the party and will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. A passionate sports fan, Darryl's loyalty to the New England Patriots and the Duke Basketball team spanned several decades, dating back to the 1980s.

He was preceded in death by his cherished mother, Barbara Jean Roberts. Darryl's legacy lives on through his loving family: siblings, James Smith (Yvonne) and Lashunda Smith; children, Zemora Smith, Sade Henderson (Ken), and Kadarius Smith. Additionally, he leaves behind twelve adoring grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 2:00-6:00pm in the chapel of Ray Funeral & Cremation Service.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. The service will take place at Faith Tabernacle Christian Center, located at 800 Appledoorn Cir, Asheville, NC 28803. The church doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for guests to arrive and pay their respects.

Darryl Bernard Smith will forever be remembered for his warmth, humor, and zest for life. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved him.
