Darwin Barton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc. - Harrison City on Dec. 23, 2025.
Darwin G. "Butch" Barton, 87, of Penn Twp., passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 22, 2025. He was born on September 21, 1938 in Jeannette, PA, to the late Kenneth and Sophie (Falta) Barton.
Butch is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Doreen G. (Byers) Barton; son, Scott (Dannielle) Barton; daughter, Tracy (the late Fred) Lydick; grandchildren, Regan Lydick (Randall) and Brenden Lydick (Megan); great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Lydick; and loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth "Sonny" and Tecla Barton.
Butch was a dedicated machine tool rebuilder who spent many years working alongside his son and brother-in-law at Metaline, formerly known as LYNX, Inc. His skilled hands and keen eye were invaluable to the trade and greatly appreciated by all who worked with him.
A man of many interests, Butch found solace and happiness in the simple pleasure of working with his hands. He had an enduring passion for tinkering, having spent countless hours restoring and refining his cherished 1984 S-10 hot rod. There was nothing he enjoyed more than firing up the engine and taking it for a spin. Butch's green thumb was evident in his attentively cultivated garden, a vibrant tapestry of flowers and vegetables that was a pride of his home.
An avid bowler and enthusiastic golfer, Butch spent many a day on the lanes and the greens, engaging in friendly competition and forging lasting friendships. The camaraderie and sportsmanship he shared with his teammates and fellow golfers were sources of great joy and provided him with cherished memories.
Butch's later years were devoted to the unparalleled care of his beloved wife, Doreen. He took on the role of caregiver with characteristic diligence and love, ensuring that her days were filled with comfort and joy, a testament to the steadfast and compassionate man he was. Butch's legacy is one of dedication, warmth, and a zest for life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched with his generosity, humor, and the gentle strength that defined him.
Friends will be received Sunday, December 28, 2025 from 3-7 p.m. at Lindsay-Jobe Funeral Home, Inc., 3343 Route 130, PO Box 465, Harrison City. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery - Denmark Manor.
