He secured a position at Eakes Office Plus, where he was employed for 30 years until his retirement. During his tenure at Eakes, he also served as a preacher at The Church of God for nine years.
Darwin enjoyed coaching youth sports at the YMCA and for the City of McCook over the years and occasionally assisted with refereeing. He led numerous youth groups and took great pleasure in sharing his faith in God with everyone he encountered. Darwin also enjoyed playing golf and later disc golf with his close group of golf buddies.
