Darwin Pete "Dadaw" Smith SR was born February 7, 1935, in Louisville, MS. to the union of his parents, John Henry Smith and Anges Elizabeth Ivy Smith and passed from this life Saturday, August 17, 2024 at his residence in Grayson. Pete was always a hard worker, as he owned and operated DPL Logging. He owned a race car and enjoyed all the nights he spent at Super Bee Speedway. Pete "Dadaw", was a man of his word, he said what was on his mind and he meant it. Like it or not, you was gonna respect him. He enjoyed drinking coffee at Napa and talking to everybody. He especially enjoyed his visits from Melton and Clark which came to see him until the end. Pete cherished his wife and couldn't wait to be reunited with her. Even though he will be missed here on earth, he is now rejoicing with Janice "Mama" and happy as they can be.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Agnes Smith and wife, Janice "Mama" Smith. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lori Hillman; sons: Darwin Smith Jr (Sally), Larry Warren; brothers: Johnny Smith (Vickie) and John Thomas Smith (Dinah); grandchildren, Madison Hatten (Dustin), Mistie Newtson (Brett), Breeze Wu, Angel Wilson (Michael), Jana Warren (Brad), Toni Taylor (D'angelo), and Harleigh Barlow (Ryan); sixteen great-grandchildren; and his precious puppy Jada.
