Daryl Cornford passed away on September 14, 2025, at his home in Moore, OK, with family who loved him dearly, by his side.
Daryl was a man who lived his life to the fullest. The man never met a stranger. When he and his wife, Melba, would go places, it never failed that he'd run into someone he knew. He touched people's lives in a way that brought people memories and joy they'll never forget. To those friends, please, tip a glass and say cheers to him.
His favorite time of year was fall, not for the traditional reasons but for, "We interrupt this marriage for college football". In he and Melba's living room, you'd always find two TV's set up. One with a show for her, the other would have a sporting event for him. In the fall, however, he'd bring out his 3rd TV and set it up. On Saturday's, all three TVs would be taken over and have football games on them. He grew up a Cornhusker fan and will always be one but, even if he wouldn't admit it, he loved it when the Oklahoma Sooners won. The same set up would happen again in the spring so he could watch multiple softball games. He admitted his love for the Oklahoma Sooners softball team. If they were playing, he was watching…Boomer Sooner baby!
He was preceded in death by his son, Mickey; his father, Floyd Cornford; his mother, Claribel Cornford of Litchfield Nebraska; brothers-in-law, Benjamin Powell of Lincoln Nebraska and Ronald Schmierer of Omaha, Nebraska; and many dogs, cats, and ducks that he cared for throughout his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melba Cornford; Melba's son, Tommy (Tammy) Foley along with their son, Brad; Melba's daughter, Tara Winsett and her son, Ryne; his daughter, Tami (Edgar) Jalapa and Daryl's grandpuppies, Sadi and Jordi; his daughter, Vicki Cornford along with her godson, Zach Dorman and Daryl's grandkitty, Taco; sisters, Illa Powell, Erma (Dallas) Johnson, and DeEtta Schmierer; along with numerous additional nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
Those who are also grieving his loss who were family not by blood but by love are Marty Dufek, Rebecca Dufek, Kyla Dufek, and Chloe Dufek.
In following Daryl's wishes there are no formal services scheduled at this time.
