Daryl Dewayne Elmore, age 64, a native of Columbus Ohio, affectionately known as “Beads” was born October 8th, 1960 and gained his wings April 15th, 2025.

Daryl was Mitte Lee’s youngest child and only boy who could not do any wrong. He was spoiled in every way! Daryl was a proud resident of Windsor Terrace, “Dub T”, and a 1979 graduate of Linden McKinley High School. He built many cherished lifelong friendships in his community. He was a boxer with IBC and enjoyed playing basketball from youth through adult hood. Daryl was an electrician who worked for various companies throughout his career. He took great pride in pointing out and telling stories of buildings around the city, state, and country he wired. He took opportunity to travel and lived a full life. None of us can deny he was a ladies man that kept him a bad one!

Daryl loved sports! He could quote any statistic for any sport with the best of them. He was definitely an OSU fan and rooted loudly and proudly for any NFL team that was winning. He loved RNB Funk and especially enjoyed a live show with a good band. He orchestrated many family outings down at Mayme Moore park. Daryl had many favorite artist but Prince was his stand out fav! Daryl as prince pics may surface J.

Daryl did not let much bother him. He was charismatic with a beautiful smile that would light up any room. He loved to joke around (way to much). He would leave you laughing nonstop and smiling to no end. His infectious personality made each time with Daryl joyous. Those who knew Daryl “Beads” will remember his bold personality, the many laughs shared, fun times, and his classic sayings like “What up slim?”

Daryl loved his family (his tools and his truck J). He especially adored his only son and grandchildren. He would beam with pride anytime he spoke of them. Each of his sisters held a special place in his heart. For them, willingly or reluctantly at times, he would do anything. He was a proud uncle and the go to family handy man. In fact, some of you still “owe him a couple dollars”.

A few memories to keep in our hearts:

Little Daryl – When you lived with me that was the best time of my life! I loved sitting and talking with you all the time about everything. There are so many memories it would be impossible to list them all…man! Watching the game, sitting on the phone with each other, taking me to see Michael Jackson with my red leather jacket on, the New Edition concert, bringing food from Grandma Lee’s house, matching D chains when I was 16, giving my kids every dollar in your pocket, whooping my kids, being a light in their lives (They love their grandpa!), going fishing, remember when you were afraid to take the fish off, you and my mom dancing at her bday party. I can go on forever! You loved me more than anything and we have a life time of memories I’ll never forget. I miss you Dad!

Delma – One time Daryl and I were watching tv in my family room. He said, “Delma what’s that?” I said “that aint nothing by Mama”. He said “Okay! I’m going over to Wilma’s”. Daryl did not come back to my house for over a month J laughing. Fun times with my brother!

Dru – I miss my brother. He always had something going on. Burning up the barbecue and carrying on.

Wilma – Me and Daryl hanging out going to concerts are cherished memories I will never forget. Love you Brother!

Leland – The last time we saw each other a few years back when I was in town you came and picked me up in your truck. Then we rolled over to see Les, chilled, and took a picture. The last time I saw you both. I’ll miss you brother.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mittie Lee Elmore; Father, Lloyd Moore; Sisters, Nancy King, Orlinda Jabbar, and Brenda Elmore.

Daryl leaves to celebrate his life his son Daryl Abbington; Grandchildren Daryl, Tanaya, Daron, Terae, Darionna, Dameah, Dakyila, Darious, and Dalyila; Sisters Delores Hayden-Littleton, Drucilla Elmore, and Wilma Elmore; Brother Leland Williams; special friends Kevin Latham, Jerry Page and Von (Lisa). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

As you think of Daryl in the days ahead remember “The idea is not to live forever but to create something that will” – Daryl’s legacy will impact generations.
